Couture jewelry is the dream part of my career as a jewelry designer. There are no boundaries, my imagination can run wild. What I try to do in my design is to make a woman dream.

Oscar De La Renta was a creative soul with a deeply connected ability to see inspiration in color, fabric, form, culture, and people. To find such raw forms of uninhabited imagination is rare and generally for most, only found or remembered in childhood. Ushered through schools and systems tracked only for success in college, the ability to keep your finger on the pulse that inspires you is difficult.

Busy little hands, dusty chalk, oil pastels across the knuckles, dirt under the finger nails. Those are the hands of my four-year old daughter on any given day. Having been a similar child - active, creative, and inquisitive the unfortunate lack in creative offerings of my youth haunts my memories. Having access to plenty of art classes via public school was not the issue, however the lack in support and opportunities to experience art in the making hugely impacted how I followed my passion.

Couture by definition is - the design and manufacture of fashionable clothes to a client's specific requirements and measurements.

Are you or someone you know creative and interested in fashion? Alice & Chains Jewelry is looking for 1-2 interns for the next 5 weeks to assist in creating a runway collection that's headed for Portugal this fall.
