The most iconic American fashion statement - the tee shirt. However you wear it, functionally or intentionally as a statement of expression, it serves a purpose beyond covering your torso.

Busy little hands, dusty chalk, oil pastels across the knuckles, dirt under the finger nails. Those are the hands of my four-year old daughter on any given day. Having been a similar child - active, creative, and inquisitive the unfortunate lack in creative offerings of my youth haunts my memories. Having access to plenty of art classes via public school was not the issue, however the lack in support and opportunities to experience art in the making hugely impacted how I followed my passion.

What is couture?

Couture by definition is - the design and manufacture of fashionable clothes to a client's specific requirements and measurements.

What happens when you grow up and out of the jewelry from your youth? Or if your style changes? A frequent question about the price of jewelry is, why two pieces identical in size, color, and weight have a prices so dramatically different from one store to another? Historically speaking the value of a piece of jewelry has been heavily weighted upon the perceived value that a jeweler or retailer thinks a potential buyer would be willing to pay. 

The statement necklaces of Alice & Chains Jewelry are larger than life, generally heavy, and truly evoke the meaning of one-of-a-kind. These necklaces are often born from some found object I discover at some sort of sale, making the necklace impossible to replicate because their inspiration comes in the source of a single piece I discover. This is the case with the pictured alligator necklace.

Why is it that the gleam of a ring, the golden yellow hue of gold, or the deep, reflective colors of a gemstone so captivating? What draws our eye and then captures our hearts about shiny and reflective objects?

Jewelry can get boo-boos too. Sure your favorite ring is made from metal and stone, but that does not make it indestructible. The ring in the photo - I replaced the stone in the original setting and within two days it came back shattered.
