I'm a hands-in gal when it comes to helping my community. My previous work building the Dobbs Ferry Chamber of Commerce, founding the Rivertowns Chamber, writing and recording videos for The Jogging Jeweler, and helping Lifestyle Westchester with their community building events and media platforms stoked my passion for community.
Coming to Houston last summer meant time to reflect and that I would have to find my tribe again. I have done that, and now duty calls. While I learned a great many things at the helm of the Chamber, most importantly I took away that I need to take care of myself. I am strong and capable of anything I set my mind to, but I lay heavy importance on my duties as a mother and a wife. My happy place happens when I maintain a healthy pace that doesn't inflict massive amounts of mom-guilt.
To give this new project 100% and to bring balance to my life, Alice & Chains Jewelry will be slowing down the pace at which we design & produce new pieces. Private clients will be taken on a case-by-case basis. By no means does this mean I am quitting jewelry. I'm just quitting the game that says to be successful I have to burn the candle at both ends. Being a mom means I am doing that already, no need to pile on more ;-)
In reference to quote in my slideshow regarding the USA being the only developed nation that does not provide paid family leave, I've linked a small peak & an extra read in relation to my new project. Read more here - The Sorry State of Women in the Workplace
