This is the first piece produced in a Tahitian pearl collection.
This blooming pendant was designed and made for a mother, a gardener that is always tending to not just her plants, but her family as well. A set of yellow gold earrings is in production to match the necklace.
The client came to me with three Tahitian pearls, wanting a matching necklace and pair of earrings. This piece was inspired by the idea of a blooming flower. Studying the photography of Irving Penn and flower samples from the client's garden this piece was hand-carved and produced using the lost-wax process. The first round was cast in sterling silver to ensure the snug fitting of the pearl and eventually to shorten the leaves that cup the pearl. The final piece was cast in 18k yellow gold using high polish. Originally wanting an 18" gold chain, we ended up selecting a 20" inch chain to ensure that the pearl hung at the exact desired length, just below her heart.
